Remote privilege escalation via unchecked modem buffer copy
Published Mar 10, 2026 · Updated Mar 10, 2026
Memory corruption in the Android kernel modem handler allows remote attackers to escalate privileges via a crafted modem message. MM_DATA_IND in cn_NrSmMsgHdlrFromMM.cpp copies modem data without verifying that the input fits the destination buffer. No prior privileges or user interaction are required, and successful exploitation grants elevated execution on an affected device.
