CVE-2026-0091

Local privilege escalation via exposed application-thread token

Published Jun 1, 2026 · Updated Jun 1, 2026

Privilege escalation in Google Android 14, 15, 16, and 16-qpr2 allows local users to execute code in the launcher process without interaction. ActivityTaskManager passes an IApplicationThread token with a remote-transition animation delegate out of WindowManager Core to the over-privileged shell process instead of retaining the delegate and sending only a boost notification. A local low-privileged user can exploit that exposed application-thread capability to run code with launcher privileges.
