Local denial of service via case-mismatched columns
Published Jun 1, 2026 · Updated Jun 1, 2026
Improper input validation in Android 14, 15, 16, and 16-qpr2 allows local users to crash Contacts Provider with an oversized contact name. applySimpleFieldMaxSize in DataRowHandler.java matches column keys case-sensitively, so mixed-case keys such as DaTa1 bypass length truncation. A low-privileged local user can trigger the availability-only failure without user interaction; no data disclosure or modification is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
