CVE-2025-9778Public exploit

Credential disclosure via hard-coded shadow password

Published Sep 1, 2025 · Updated Sep 2, 2025

Hard-coded credentials in Tenda W12 3.0.0.6(3948) and earlier allow local users to read a fixed password hash from device firmware. The administrative firmware stores the credential in /etc_ro/shadow rather than generating a unique device-specific password hash. Exploitation requires high-privilege local access and exposes credential material, with no reported ability to alter data or interrupt service.
