CVE-2025-9688Public exploit

Host code execution via wrapped buffer-length addition

Published Aug 30, 2025 · Updated Sep 2, 2025

Integer overflow in Mupen64Plus 2.0 through 2.6.0 allows context-dependent attackers to execute code via a crafted Nintendo 64 ROM. The write_is_viewer function adds two uint32_t values when checking buffer bounds, so wraparound can make an oversized memcpy appear safe. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted ROM; a successful out-of-bounds copy permits host code execution outside emulation.
