Local task hijacking via default task affinity
Published Aug 29, 2025 · Updated Aug 29, 2025
Task hijacking in Kakao Hey Kakao App 2.17.0 through 2.17.4 allows local users to present a phishing activity on Android. AndroidManifest.xml leaves the application task affinity at its package-name default, allowing a malicious activity with the same affinity to occupy the task root. Exploitation requires installation and use of a malicious app on Android before 11, followed by opening Hey Kakao; captured input or induced permission grants are the bounded consequences.
