Post recategorization via nonce-free AJAX handler
Published Sep 11, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in gyaku AutoCatSet 2.1.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to recategorize posts via a forged request. The autocatset_ajax handler accepts a state-changing AJAX request without validating a WordPress nonce and invokes automatic category reassignment. Exploitation requires an authenticated administrator to be tricked into submitting the request, and the resulting change is limited to post categorization.
