Router crash via unchecked mac parameter
Published Aug 29, 2025 · Updated Aug 29, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda AC21 and AC23 16.03.08.16 allows remote attackers to crash the router via a crafted mac parameter. GetParentControlInfo passes the unauthenticated mac query value to strcpy, which copies it into a 602-byte region without checking its length. Reaching the web management endpoint requires network access; the published proof of concept sends a 512,000-byte value repeatedly to interrupt service.
