CVE-2025-9525Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated code execution via unchecked WAN parameters

Published Aug 27, 2025 · Updated Aug 27, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in Linksys E1700 firmware 1.0.0.4.003 allows remote authenticated users to crash the router via WAN settings. The setWan handler in mod_form.so copies unchecked DeviceName or lanIp form data into a stack local variable, overwriting the return address. Access requires an authenticated POST to /goform/setWan; the published proof of concept crashes the device, while controlled return-address overwrite supports arbitrary code execution.
