Unauthenticated script execution via malformed comment attributes
Published Oct 1, 2025 · Updated Oct 1, 2025
Stored XSS in comment rendering in Backup For WP Schema & Structured Data for WP & AMP before 1.50 allows remote attackers to execute scripts. The plugin modifies HTML tag attributes in approved comments without safely sanitizing and escaping quote-delimited attribute text, allowing a crafted link to add an event handler. No account is needed, but the comment must be approved and a visitor must load the affected page; the script then executes in that visitor's browser.
