Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode debug output
Published Aug 30, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored cross-site scripting in TablePress 3.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcode_debug. The shortcode_table handler serializes render options into a preformatted HTML block and, before the patch, appends that JSON without HTML escaping. Contributor-level access is required to store a crafted shortcode in a page; the script executes in the browser of anyone who views that page.
