Authenticated arbitrary shortcode execution via profile names

Published Sep 9, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026

Code injection in Chad Butler WP-Members 3.5.4.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary shortcodes. The shortcode handler passes a Subscriber-controlled profile name to WordPress do_shortcode without validating the value first. Subscriber-level access and a reachable profile workflow are required; the registered shortcode callback determines the resulting data access or site changes.
