CVE-2025-9483Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated code execution via unchecked forwarding-rule fields

Published Aug 26, 2025 · Updated Aug 26, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in Linksys RE-series firmware allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code. The singlePortForwardAdd handler in mod_form.so copies unchecked ruleName, schedule, and inboundFilter values into a stack buffer, allowing the return address to be overwritten. An authenticated web session is required; the published proof of concept demonstrates a persistent service crash, while code execution is claimed but not demonstrated.
