Remote code execution via unrestricted PHP upload
Published Aug 26, 2025 · Updated Aug 26, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in SourceCodester Human Resource Information System 1.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. The employee_file201 handler in Admin_Dashboard/process/editemployee_process.php accepts PHP files without checking the extension, MIME type, or file content, then saves them under a predictable name in a web-accessible upload directory. Authentication is not required, and requesting the uploaded PHP file executes commands with the web server process's access.
