CVE-2025-9389Public exploit

Local crash via autoskip buffer miscalculation

Published Aug 24, 2025 · Updated Aug 25, 2025

Memory corruption in Vim xxd 9.1.1459 through 9.1.1682 allows local users to crash the utility via a crafted autoskip input. Autoskip null-line replacement calculates invalid buffer offsets, causing memmove to access memory outside the allocated output buffer. Exploitation requires local execution with the -a option, and published reports document configuration-dependent reproduction.
