Authenticated code execution via unchecked credential copy
Published Aug 23, 2025 · Updated Aug 25, 2025
Stack-based overflow in Linksys RE6250, RE6300, RE6350, RE6500, RE7000, and RE9000 firmware allows authenticated remote code execution. The RP_checkCredentialsByBBS handler in mod_form.so copies oversized ssidhex or pwd request data into a stack buffer without a length check, overwriting its return address. A valid web-session cookie is required; the published request crashes the extender, while return-address control enables arbitrary code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
