CVE-2025-9358Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated code execution via unchecked password-hint copy

Published Aug 23, 2025 · Updated Aug 25, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in six Linksys RE-series extenders allows remote authenticated users to execute code through an admin request. The setSysAdm handler in mod_form.so copies an oversized admpasshint value into a fixed-size stack variable without bounds checking, overwriting the function return address. A valid management session is required; the published request demonstrates a persistent device crash, while return-address control enables code execution.
