Authenticated code execution via unchecked ruleName copy
Published Aug 22, 2025 · Updated Aug 26, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Linksys RE6250, RE6300, RE6350, RE6500, RE7000, and RE9000 allows remote authenticated users to crash the device. The inboundFilterAdd function in mod_form.so copies an oversized ruleName value into a stack local without checking its length, overwriting the return address. Low-privilege management access and a valid session are required; the published request causes persistent service loss, while control of the return address enables arbitrary code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
