Authenticated code execution via unchecked hint copy
Published Aug 20, 2025 · Updated Aug 21, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Linksys RE6250 and five related extenders allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code. In mod_form.so, DisablePasswordAlertRedirect copies the request's unbounded hint value into a stack variable without a length check, overwriting the function return address. Access to the extender's authenticated web interface is required; an oversized value can instead crash the device and persistently interrupt service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
