Service crash via unchecked vlan_set stack copy
Published Aug 20, 2025 · Updated Aug 21, 2025
Stack overflow in Linksys RE-series extender firmware allows remote authenticated users to crash web services via a crafted VLAN request. The setVlan handler in mod_form.so copies the unbounded vlan_set parameter into a stack local variable, overwriting the function return address. A valid management session is required, and the demonstrated consequence is persistent device-service loss rather than confirmed code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
