Site-identity spoofing via hidden registrable domain
Published Aug 19, 2025 · Updated Apr 13, 2026
Address bar spoofing in Mozilla Firefox Focus for Android before 142 allows remote attackers to misrepresent a site's registrable domain. Custom Tabs use the ColoredUrl render style instead of RegistrableDomain, so long URLs can hide the top-level domain plus one in the toolbar. User interaction is required to open attacker-controlled content in a Custom Tab, where the misleading toolbar can disguise the site's identity.
