Sandbox escape via invalid GMP process pointer
Published Aug 19, 2025 · Updated Apr 13, 2026
Memory corruption in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird before 142 allows attackers to escape the content-process sandbox via encrypted media. An invalid pointer in Audio/Video: GMP corrupts memory while the isolated GMP process handles encrypted media with privileges distinct from the content process. Affected ESR ranges end before 115.27, 128.14, or 140.2 for Firefox and before 128.14 or 140.2 for Thunderbird; scripting is disabled while reading mail in Thunderbird, limiting exposure in that context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
