CVE-2025-9146Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via CRC-validated firmware update

Published Aug 19, 2025 · Updated Aug 19, 2025

Improper firmware verification in Linksys E5600 1.1.0.26 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via a crafted update. The verify_gemtek_header function in checkFw.sh relies on CRC to accept firmware images, so an image with a matching checksum passes integrity validation. Administrative access to the firmware-update interface and a deliberately checksum-colliding image are required; successful installation enables arbitrary code execution or a device service interruption.
