Credential theft via default Android task affinity
Published Aug 19, 2025 · Updated Aug 19, 2025
Task hijacking in AfterShip Package Tracker App 5.24.0 through 5.24.1 allows local users to capture sensitive input on Android. AndroidManifest.xml leaves task affinity at the package-name default, letting a malicious app place a phishing activity at the root of the same task stack. Exploitation requires installation and use of the malicious app on Android before Android 11 and can expose entered credentials or induce permission grants.
