CVE-2025-9118Network attack vector

Cross-tenant file access via package path traversal

Published Aug 25, 2025 · Updated Aug 25, 2025

Path traversal in Google Cloud Dataform from August 7 through August 20, 2025 allows remote attackers to read and write other customers' repositories. During NPM package installation, Dataform fails to contain paths supplied through a malicious package.json within the originating repository, allowing file operations to cross tenant boundaries. The Dataform API accepts the request without privileges or user interaction, and the bounded consequence is unauthorized repository code and data access.
