CVE-2025-9086Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Application crash or secure-cookie replacement via path over-read

Published Sep 12, 2025 · Updated Jun 2, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in libcurl 8.13.0 through 8.15.0 allows remote attackers to crash applications or replace secure cookies. Cookie path comparison treats a one-byte "/" path as if it had a trailing slash, reads beyond its heap allocation, and can wrongly accept an insecure cookie replacement. Exploitation requires control of an HTTP site matching the HTTPS host or a man-in-the-middle position; the curl command-line tool itself is not affected.
