Privilege escalation in Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk Linx 6.40 and earlier allows local users to execute commands with SYSTEM privileges. The installed x86 MSI exposes a privileged console window during repair that an attacker can hijack to launch a command prompt. Exploitation requires valid Windows credentials and the ability to initiate repair, after which all local files, processes, and system resources are accessible.
