CVE-2025-8979Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via hard-coded firmware validation

Published Aug 14, 2025 · Updated Aug 14, 2025

Insufficient firmware validation in Tenda AC15 15.13.07.13 allows remote authenticated users to install malicious firmware. The tpi_upload path accepts images when check_fw_type and split_fireware match hard-coded values, while check_fw relies on a forgeable CRC. Administrative access to the HTTP update handler is required; a crafted image can replace device firmware, execute arbitrary code, or interrupt service.
