Authenticated service crash via unchecked strcpy
Published Aug 14, 2025 · Updated Aug 14, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in D-Link DIR-825 2.10 allows remote authenticated users to crash httpd through a crafted ping_ipaddr value. The get_ping_app_stat handler passes the POST-supplied value to parse_special_char, where strcpy copies it into a fixed-size stack variable without adequate length validation. Reaching ping_response.cgi requires login to the router's web interface, and successful exploitation interrupts the embedded web service.
