CVE-2025-8916Network attack vector

Service interruption via unbounded name-constraint allocation

Published Aug 13, 2025 · Updated May 12, 2026

Resource exhaustion in Bouncy Castle Java 1.44 through 1.78 and SIMATIC CN 4100 before V5.0 allows remote attackers to interrupt services. PKIXCertPathReviewer processes an attacker-supplied name-constraints object without imposing a size limit, permitting excessive memory allocation. Exploitation requires an application to use the reviewer on certificate paths of unknown origin without prior validation; availability is the only reported impact.
