Authenticated device crash via unchecked language parameter
Published Aug 11, 2025 · Updated Aug 11, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in six Linksys RE-series extenders version 20250801 allows remote authenticated users to crash the device. The langSwitchBack handler in mod_form.so passes the attacker-controlled langSelectionOnly value without a length check, overflowing its stack buffer. An administrative session is required; the published request demonstrates a persistent service crash, while arbitrary code execution is asserted but not demonstrated.
