Authenticated code execution via unchecked DMZ address
Published Aug 11, 2025 · Updated Aug 11, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Linksys RE-series firmware allows remote authenticated users to crash the device or execute code. The setDMZ handler in mod_form.so stores the unvalidated DMZIPAddress value through nvram_bufset, and sysctl copies it into a stack variable until the return address is overwritten. A valid management session is required; RE6250 1.0.04.001, RE6300 1.2.07.001, RE6350 1.0.04.001, RE6500 1.0.013.001, RE7000 1.1.05.003, and RE9000 1.0.04.002 are affected, with persistent service loss demonstrated and code execution described.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
