CVE-2025-8831Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via unchecked portNumber stack copy

Published Aug 11, 2025 · Updated Aug 11, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in Linksys RE-series extenders 20250801 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code. The remoteManagement handler stores an unchecked portNumber value with nvram_bufset before sysctl copies it into a stack local and overwrites the return address. Low-privilege access to /goform/remoteManagement is required; exploitation can execute code or crash the device.
