Authenticated code execution via unchecked SSID copy
Published Aug 10, 2025 · Updated Aug 12, 2025
Stack overflow in Linksys RE6250, RE6300, RE6350, RE6500, RE7000, and RE9000 20250801 allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The wirelessBasic handler stores submit_SSID1 with nvram_bufset and later copies it into a stack-local buffer without a length check, allowing the return address to be overwritten. A valid session cookie and network access to /goform/wirelessBasic are required; successful exploitation grants code execution, while the published request demonstrates a device-service crash.
