CVE-2025-8672

TCC bypass via bundled Python permission inheritance

Published Aug 11, 2025 · Updated Aug 11, 2025

Incorrect default permissions in GIMP before 3.1.4.2 allow local users to access TCC-protected files through a bundled interpreter. The macOS application bundle's Python interpreter inherits TCC grants assigned to the main application and accepts arbitrary commands or scripts. Exploitation requires local user access, and file access is limited to previously granted resources unless an additional GIMP-branded prompt is approved.
