CVE-2025-8612

Local SYSTEM code execution via restore junction

Published Aug 20, 2025 · Updated Aug 20, 2025

Link following in AOMEI Backupper Workstation 4.7.2 allows local users to gain SYSTEM code execution through restore operations. The restore functionality follows an attacker-created junction and lets the privileged service create arbitrary files at the junction target. Exploitation requires low-privileged local code execution and administrator interaction, after which attacker-controlled files enable SYSTEM-level code execution.
