Network-adjacent root code execution via improper certificate validation
Published Aug 1, 2025 · Updated Aug 1, 2025
Improper certificate validation in Alpine iLX-507 firmware 6.0.000 allows network-adjacent attackers to achieve root code execution. The TIDAL application improperly validates the server certificate for its streaming connection, leaving the communication peer's identity unverified. Exploitation requires user interaction and chaining with other vulnerabilities; authentication is not required, and successful chaining executes code as root.
