CVE-2025-8351

Code execution or crash via malformed file scan

Published Dec 1, 2025 · Updated Jun 12, 2026

Heap overflow and out-of-bounds read in Gen Digital Avira Antivirus before 8.3.70.98 allow local users to execute code or crash its engine. The antivirus engine fails to enforce heap-buffer bounds while parsing a malformed file during scanning, causing memory corruption and an out-of-bounds read. Exploitation requires local file placement and a user-initiated scan; success executes code in the engine process or interrupts that process.
