Physical code execution via firmware downgrade
Published Jul 30, 2025 · Updated Jul 30, 2025
Firmware downgrade in Tesla Wall Connector 24.44.1 allows physically proximate attackers to execute arbitrary code through physical access. The firmware upgrade feature accepts an older image because it lacks an anti-downgrade mechanism, exposing earlier firmware flaws. Exploitation requires physical presence and another vulnerability; successful chaining executes code in the device context without authentication.
