Authenticated code execution via dynamic function construction
Published Jul 28, 2025 · Updated Jul 28, 2025
Code injection in ChanCMS 3.1.0 through 3.1.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript via the getArticle endpoint. The getArticle handler in app/modules/cms/controller/collect.js passes the request-controlled parseData value directly to the Function constructor and runs the resulting function against collected article HTML. Access to the CMS gathering endpoint is required, after which injected JavaScript executes in the server process and can invoke operating-system commands.
