Credential theft via default Android task affinity
Published Jul 28, 2025 · Updated Jul 28, 2025
Task hijacking in Lobby Universe Inc. Lobby 2.0 through 2.8.0 allows local users to impersonate the app through a malicious Android app. Lobby's AndroidManifest.xml leaves taskAffinity at the package-name default, allowing an attacker Activity with the same affinity to occupy Lobby's task and appear when Lobby opens. A victim must install and run the malicious app and then open Lobby; the spoofed Activity can capture entered credentials or induce permission grants.
