Embedded malicious code in Amazon Q for Visual Studio Code 1.84.0 allows attackers to attempt local changes when the extension launches. An inappropriately scoped GitHub token let a threat actor commit code that the release pipeline automatically bundled; a syntax error stopped its Q Developer CLI API call. Exposure requires installation and launch of 1.84.0, and AWS reports that the inert code made no service or customer-environment changes.
