Local utility crash via freed color-cell read
Published Jul 26, 2025 · Updated Jul 28, 2025
Heap use-after-free in LibTIFF tiffmedian 4.7.0 allows local users to crash the utility by processing a malformed TIFF file. A scanline read failure leaves processing state inconsistent, after which quant_fsdither reads a color-cell allocation already freed by map_colortable. The demonstrated path requires local invocation with Floyd-Steinberg dithering and terminates with an AddressSanitizer-detected abort.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
