Cluster-wide admin access via fixed bootstrap password
Published Sep 17, 2025 · Updated Sep 17, 2025
Use of a default password in SUSE NeuVector 5.0.0 through 5.4.5 allows remote attackers within the cluster to obtain admin API access. When Kubernetes Secret retrieval fails, the built-in admin account falls back to a fixed password instead of generating a unique credential. Exploitation requires controller API access and an unchanged bootstrap password; the resulting token permits every NeuVector API operation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
