SYSTEM privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Jul 23, 2025 · Updated Jul 23, 2025
Unquoted service paths in ASUSTOR Backup Plan 2.0.7.6130 and earlier and EZ Sync 1.0.6.6133 and earlier allow local users to gain SYSTEM access. Their Windows service ImagePath values omit quotation marks around executable paths containing spaces, so service startup can select an attacker-placed executable such as C:\Program.exe. Exploitation requires local file placement and an affected service running with elevated privileges; successful execution grants SYSTEM-level privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
