Stored XSS via unescaped author_link_target output
Published Aug 23, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Surror ShortcodeHub 1.7.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts via author_link_target. The useful-shortcodes theme class accepts author_link_target without sufficient sanitization and emits it without context-appropriate escaping. Contributor-level access is required to store the payload, which executes in the browser of anyone who later opens the injected page.
