Database disclosure via LLM-generated SQL query execution
Published Jul 20, 2025 · Updated Jul 21, 2025
SQL injection in Onyx Chat Interface 0.29.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read database data through crafted chat prompts. The generate_simple_sql path lets an LLM turn attacker-controlled entity text into SQL, then executes the generated statement after a guard fails to block UNION SELECT data extraction. Access to the chat endpoint and Knowledge Graph query tool is required; a demonstrated payload returns usernames and password hashes in the API response.
