CVE-2025-7836Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated command execution via unsanitized environment variables

Published Jul 19, 2025 · Updated Jul 21, 2025

Command injection in D-Link DIR-816L 2.06B01 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary operating-system commands. The ssdpcgi path in /htdocs/cgibin reads environment variables with getenv, removes only backticks, then passes other shell metacharacters through sprintf to lxmldbc_system and system. Access to the network-reachable CGI environment is required; injected commands run on the router and can read or modify data or interrupt service.
