Application crash via unchecked ALS decoder allocations
Published Nov 7, 2025 · Updated Nov 7, 2025
NULL pointer dereference in FFmpeg before 8.0 allows remote attackers to crash applications by supplying malformed ALS audio. The ALS decode_init routine uses failed av_malloc_array and av_calloc results because several return values are not checked for NULL. Reachability requires an application to decode attacker-controlled ALS media; the resulting process crash interrupts only that application.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
