Stored script execution via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Jul 18, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Lewis King's Map My Locations 1.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcode attributes. The map_my_locations shortcode passes user-supplied attributes to its display path without sufficient sanitization or output escaping, causing stored markup to execute when an injected page is viewed. Contributor-level access is required, and the resulting script runs in a visitor's browser under the affected site's origin.
